The Best Shower Glass Cleaning Hack EVER!

My least favorite area to clean in our cabin is the shower. I have never found a successful way to clean the water spots off the glass and chrome thoroughly. A few weeks ago I learned how to clean my shower glass so that it’s crystal clear! It is not only easy but it’s simple too!

This cleaning method can be sued for glass cooktops too!

How to Clean Shower Glass

I know, I know, I probably let the shower glass go a little too long in between cleanings. After buying nearly every shower cleaning product on the market with no luck, a sweet instagram friend gave me the tip of my shower cleaning lifetime!!!

Mineral oil (like what you would use to clean your cutting boards) combined with a scouring sponge will break down the soap scum and mineral deposits. Simply, and very gently so as not to scratch the glass, scrub the glass with the oiled sponge. If the spots prove to be really stubborn (or have been there a while like mine) pour the oil directly on the glass and let it sit for about 30 minutes.

Once all the scrubbing is done use Dawn Dish Soap on a nubby wash rag to clean the oil off the glass. Then once the glass is dry use RainX on the glass with another clean towel to help prevent future build up. Voila!!! Crystal clear shower glass!

Step by Step How-To

  1. Squirt mineral oil on a scouring sponge
  2. Gently (in a wax-on, wax-off motion) scrub the hard to clean areas of soap scum and mineral deposits.
  3. If the area is particularly stubborn clean a 2nd time or let the oil sit for 30 minutes before cleaning.
  4. Using a nubby sponge and dish soap clean (or baking soda) the oil off the glass.
  5. Dry thoroughly with a clean towel, then discard the towel.
  6. Using a new clean lint-free towel apply RainX to prevent future build up. Don’t do this step on cooktops though.
  7. The mineral oil and scouring sponge trick can also be used on shower fixtures, and stubborn cooked on food on glass cook-tops in the kitchen.

I’m so thankful for this dreamy spa bathroom. And I’m even more excited that I have finally found a way to keep it manageably clean. Stewarding our cabin with intention has been such a labor of love for me. I hope this little cleaning tip can help you love your home with intention too!

With hope for you and your intentional home,
