Going back to school teacher chic is a fun and important process during the back to school season for a teacher. It’s full of anticipation, preparation, and excitement. Just like the students! This year, in the midst of a pandemic and through a sea of unknown variables teachers are still gearing up to teach, love, and inspire students across the country.
As a third grade teacher myself I am feeling the all too familiar butterflies in and amongst a tinge of anxiety as I look toward the beginning weeks of the 2020 school year. But nevertheless, I’m just as excited and driven (if not more so) to make this back to school season special for me and my students.
Teachers have a school supply list of back to school items that need to be checked off too. Many teachers like to check those items off with style and personality. So in the spirit of gearing up as a teacher, I’d like to present my round-up of some of the most important and chic teacher must-haves for the back to school season.

Cloth Masks
One of the most unique things about 2020 may indeed be that many teachers are going back to school wearing masks. Once I realized that wearing masks may indeed be part of my days at school, to some extent, I started researching my options.
Being a glasses wearing teacher means that any cloth mask I wear needs to fit snuggly around my nose to help minimize the fog that builds up on my glasses. Esther & Jo has created the perfect cloth mask! She has some that tie and some that loop around the ear. Lanyards

Bags
Most likely the unsung hero of a teacher’s back to school gear is their bag! A teacher’s bag puts in the paces day after day carrying, lugging, and toting all the necessary essentials. Whether it’s to and from classrooms, in-services, meetings, professional developments, or home and school a teacher bag should be practical, durable, and ideally chic.

Teacher Self Care
Self-Care as a teacher is a critically important part of our job. Especially this year with the amount of unknowns before us.
One area of self-care that is incredibly underrated is drinking water. I know from personal experience that teachers live many of their days perpetually dehydrated. Investing in a quality water bottle is a great way to help take care of yourself.
This year I bought myself a new lunch tote and lunch packing system that I’m also looking forward to enjoying each day. It’s the little things you know? Focusing on fueling my body as best as I can is another small step, with huge impact, to stay as healthy as possible.

Teacher Chic
Being ready for a new school year is always an exciting process for me as a teacher. This year, as I’ve said, there are many unknowns. But getting my back to school supplies has allowed me to focus on what I can control. My passion for education, the joy of teaching, and the opportunity to be a light in the life of my students are what gets me most excited about teaching each and every year. It’s going to be a great school year.
