Ham Picatta with a Butter Wine Saucue

Ham Picatta is perfect for a lunch with guests or a simple dinner as a family. Enjoy it with a glass of white wine and side salad when it's for dinner or a simple fruit salad during lunch.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz bowtie pasta cooked
  • 3 T butter
  • 2 cloves of garlic minced
  • 1/4 small onion chopped finely
  • 1 C white wine
  • 1/2 c chicken broth
  • 1 T lemon juice
  • 3.5 oz jar of capers
  • 8-10 oz cubed ham
  • 1-2 pinch red pepper flakes
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package directions.

  2. While the pasta is cooking: Melt the butter in a large shallow saucepan over medium heat. Add in the minced garlic, and small onion. Saute' together until the onion is translucent.

  3. Next add in the wine, broth, capers (with juice from the jar), and lemon. Mixing slowly to incorporate all the ingredients.

  4. After a few minutes add the ham cubes, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper.

  5. Simmer for 5 minutes

  6. Taste and add more wine/broth as needed to balance the flavors to your palette.

  7. Drain the pasta. By the large spoonful slowly add the bowtie pasta to the sauce pan mixing as you go. Be careful not to overwhelm the sauce with too much pasta. Set aside any remaining pasta for a future meal.

  8. Serve hot with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese for garnish.
