First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees
Drain the tuna and place it in a large resealable bowl
Add enough mustard to reasonably cover the top of the tuna. Then do the same with the mayo. Taste the mixture and add more of either if needed.
Add your spices and relish.
Mix everything together and give it another taste to see if you need to adjust ingredients
Slice your kaiser rolls in half, then liberally add tuna to the bottom half of each roll. Place a slice of cheese on top of each.
Bake for 4-5 minutes just until the cheese starts to melt, then reach in and place the top half of the roll on each sandwich and continue cooking.
Set out your plates with your yummy sides.
Once the cheese starts to ooze down the side of the sandwiches you are done!
Serve immediately!
I have been making this recipe from memory for as long as I can remember. I never saw my mom use a recipe either. Just a lot of tasting as she made it. So I guess the credit for this American classic goes to the genius who developed canned tuna in the first place.
