Organization and Planning Tools for Home, Work, and On the Go

Home organization and planning are ongoing tasks that require consistency and routine throughout the the year.

Today I’m rounding up my favorite tools for practical use at home and in life. I’ve been trying and honing various keep-it-together tools for years, and they have worked best for my family. These are great for use at home, your office, or even on the go. I hope they can be helpful if you are fine tuning and streamlining your personal processes, or even looking to update what you are doing. Everything is linked for you below!

Planning and Organizational Tools at Home

Many homes have what is called a command center. It’s often a dedicated built-in small desk or work area near the kitchen or family room. Our home doesn’t have a space like this so we created a station that helps keep our family’s schedule posted as well as a few organizational tools on hand.

Our small space is along the outside of our kitchen cabinets and it’s dedicated to our family wall calendar. We didn’t want to add an additional table, or counter that would take up floor space so we used an organization system that was mounted to the wall (see image above). Here is a mounted system very similar to ours. We also added a mounted organizational system in our guest bathroom (see below).

Planning and Organizational Tools at Work

When I began my job as an elementary instructional coach I also gained an office. In the set up process I chose to mount a wall calendar, along with a few various organizational tools. Here is the acrylic wall calendar I have, I love that is minimal and reusable.

To help maximize space and productivity on my desk I added a monitor riser, and a bluetooth keyboard, to help with speed and workflow. I also bought a keyboard notepad that I placed on my desk near my computer. It has been a fantastic tool to jot down notes or to dos quickly.

Planning Tools on the Go

Being a mom of two teens, with a husband who travels from time to time, a business owner, and educator keeps me super busy. Home organization and planning systems are crucial! I have a few planning and tools that help me keep my act together and everything schedule-related organized.

  • My Planner– use pdh10 for 10% off any purchase
    • Part bullet journal, part hourly planner, minimalist design, and simply beautiful
  • My notetaking journal-for meetings, and other notes I need to take.
    • I take this journal with me to and from work nearly everyday it helps me keep work related items on hand if I need them in either location.
  • I use this magnetic weekly calendar at home to help navigate the week ahead
    • This isn’t an on the go tool, because it lives on our fridge, but it keeps the family’s weekly schedule in order. Each member of the family looks at it daily and it keeps everyone on track as we come and go through then busiest room of our house.
  • I also use Google Calendar to digitally manage my work and family schedule, color coding personal vs work obligations within it.
    • I access it on my phone, work computer, personal computer, and it’s another supportive layer to helping me keep life straight.

Life moving forward is inevitable and constant. As my kids grow older and prepare to launch I’m truly doing everything I can to savor as much as I can. The above tools whether at home, work, or on the go are simple, clear, and helpful in various ways. I hope they can help if you are looking to hone your home organization and planning tools too!

With hope for you and your intentional home and life,
