A Whimsical Fairy Tablescape for Spring
For the spring season I tried to celebrate the whimsy of living in the forest. On Mother’s Day it’s tradition to set up our fairy garden outside. More and more it’s a mother/daughter tradition and I always look forward to it. Well this year we decided to bring some of the fairies out a little early and let them hang out on the dining room table.

The Table Inspiration
I’ve been wanting to incorporate some fairy garden elements into a tablescape for quite some time.
Like I always do, with the dawning of each new season, I started looking for inspiration on Instagram and Pinterest. I was inspired by topsy-turvy flower pots down the middle of someone’s spring table and knew that this would be the year to welcome fairies to our tabletop!
After a quick trip to Michael’s I was stocked and ready to begin.
How I Style My Table
If you’ve been hanging out with me for a while you know I follow a few easy steps each time I style my table.
- I style a new table each season, the décor needs to last three months. So, as I plan, shop my house, and then ultimately head to the store I try to keep this in mind. My designs don’t usually include fresh florals unless they are for a special occasion within the seasonal timeframe of the tablescape.
- Start with a foundation by laying down any runners or placemats you plan to style with the centerpiece. I love layering multiple runners with varying textures to draw the eye and create a cozy atmosphere.
- Next, I place my center element and any other large pieces down the middle of the table. It’s just personal preference, but I try to keep the centerpiece low enough for a full table to enjoy seeing and talking to everyone.
- Third, it’s time to place the medium and small elements followed by any florals or greenery.
- Lastly, I walk around the table to make sure each seat has a pleasing-to-the-eye view of the tablescape.
The Table Elements
This year I am using various natural elements. Natural moss is inside a bark trough that I harvested from one of the logs in our woodpile, a vining greenery from Michaels, some faux carrots, and for the final touch of greenery, two potted arrangements of lavender and lambs ear. The larger elements are two fairy garden pieces. One is a gate, the other is a sweet round fairy shelter. For the last and final touch, I placed two fairies amongst all the décor on the table.

I love how whimsical our table is this spring. To me, it really is a celebration of the wonder and joy our little slice of forest holds. While I do decorate a for Easter each year and we always look forward to celebration the Resurrection of our Savior that décor is only present for a week or two. As always the foundation of my spring design is intended to last all season long. This theme will do just that!
With hope for you and your intentional home,
