Photography and Blogging

Pine Daisy House Is One!

I can’t believe Pine Daisy House is a year old! This time last year I was dreaming about a little slice of the internet and what it could hold.

As I started brainstorming my ideas for PDH one fundamental theme kept emerging; the desire to help and encourage.

Why a mission statement can change your life

Now, at the end of this first year in the blog-o-sphere and on Instagram, I’m proud of the work I’ve done. In June Intentional Living Tools were launched. In September with the help of an Instagram group called Insta-Neighborly I joined the decor community on IG. Then in October, product photography and collaborations began.

I’ll admit, continuing my photography as a personal passion was simply the icing on the cake. Never in a million years did I think product photography would be something I deeply enjoy. Not to mention the coolness factor of having some of my work on wal-mart.com!

Thanks to my collaboration with My Infinite Agenda, some of my product images are now on Wal-Mart’s website!

Leading and Following

I’ve shared before that my dreams for Pine Daisy House were not placed there by me. I felt God’s direction in this from the start. He is leading and I’m following. I’m simply required to be obedient, and He’ll be faithful.

So it’s here that I find myself. Deeply entrenched in the work of encouraging, writing, dreaming, cooking, gardening, hoping, diy-ing, decorating, and taking as many pictures as I can. I have so many ideas to share. Ways of living intentionally and creating homes of beauty. Being able to share this space with a small town’s worth of people is deeply humbling. I’m overflowing with gratitude.

Take a Risk

Thinking back to January of 2018 though I remember that feeling of not wanting to be a mud slinger, just to see what would stick.

So I took a big risk.

I wrote a mission statement for Pine Daisy House. It was more a personal reason and set of actions to guide my time and intentions when I did PDH work. Let me tell you friends, it POURED out of me. Then I wrote imperatives. My imperatives were constants and truths that would guide my actions.

I call it a risk because a mission statement looks and feels a whole lot like a goal. Up until this year I haven’t been great at meeting personal goals.

Risking a dream with the words of a goal can end up being costly. But Pine Daisy House needed it, and held too much promise to move forward without one. And this kind of risk is always worth taking.

I spent about six months trying this niche and that to see what resonated with all of you. Finally, on June 2, 2018 I knew what I would spend my time doing. I knew how, why, and what.

Intentional Living Tools were birthed out of a desire to offer practical help to you in a simple, beautiful, economic, and lasting way.

It All Started With A Name

With the help of prayer, the guidebook of My Infinite Agenda to keep me focused on the next goal and a new camera bag , I can now stand with two solid feet on the foundation of Pine Daisy House. Because friends, it all started with a name, the shadow of mighty pine trees over our home, and the heartfelt words of that first mission statement. It read:

Pine Daisy House’s Mission is to share ways to live slowly and intentionally. Domestic, nature and mountain lifestyle images will drive the creative content and challenge the reader to think purposefully about the way they live. Readers will be encouraged to live grace-filled focused lives.

Our Most Valuable Non-Renewable Resource

I don’t know where this ride will take me. I’m so glad I’m not driving. But I’m happy to take pictures along the way, share my lessons, steward my opportunities with truth and honesty, and work as hard as I can.

Perhaps you find yourself in season of life that could use a mission statement. Well friend, it’s pretty stinkin’ easy and boy does it ground you in what may be some of the most focused work you ever do. Our most valuable non-renewable resource is time. How will you use yours? Would stringing a few sentences together as a way for your actions to be more focused help? I can say from experience, writing a mission statement for 2018 was the best decision I made. Will it be yours?

With hope for you and your intentional home,
