Christmas at our Cabin- Live more Intentionally This Season

Merry Christmas season! Let’s spend a few minutes together celebrating the season with some glimpses around the cabin this year.

Today we’ll take a peek at what’s going on in the kitchen, my best holiday decor tip, some great festive wardrobe finds, and this season’s best seller! As always, this article is written through the lens of intentional decorating, planning, cooking, and spending. Enjoy!

A Memory Tree and My Best Decor Tip

This year we invested in a simple prelit pencil tree for our family memory ornaments. It’s sentimental and every single ornament is a sweet reminder of our family’s story. I love it.

Our big family cabin tree is a live Balsam Fir and I have used a simple decor trick to give fullness, elegance, and a designer touch to the tree for the past few years. It’s a synch, and makes a huge difference!

Surround your tree topper with decor picks. Yep, just nestle them around your topper, they add fullness, elegance, and layers. If you’re worried about them falling you can also ziptie them in bundles to top of the tree. It makes a major difference and I think decor picks are the number one way to level-up your tree decorating if you choose to.

Holiday Treats in the Kitchen

Several years ago we tried Elf on the Shelf. The kids were well into elementary school when Elf on the Shelf picked up steam. Very quickly I realized our holiday routines and traditions were well established and I couldn’t add another layer to the mix. But one thing I did that stuck was a North Pole Breakfast in early December. It was a sweet celebratory breakfast to usher in the excitement of the season for the kids.

Over the years the breakfast has shifted a little but the essence has stayed the same. Click image below to see this year’s iteration.

Easy Christmas Gift Idea

Need an easy and affordable edible gift idea? Dip pretzels, ritz crackers, and oreos in chocolate and decorate them with festive sprinkles. As a teacher I can say some of my favorite holiday gifts from my students are the edible kind. And my husband sure enjoys them too.

Holiday Fashion Finds

Over on instagram I have been busy sharing deals and sales with you because this time of year is a great time to refresh your closet in addition to buying gifts. So be sure to tune in to stay in touch over there and you can always shop here too!

Best Seller!

Every year in November I build what I hope are helpful and unique gift guides. And sometimes once the gift buying and giving season starts something comes along that turns into a really fun and unique gift.

And here it is:

This sweet gel manicure nail system is under $50.00 and is perfect for anyone who loves to have great nails! I bought this for myself and daughter a couple weeks ago to try out and it’s SO FUN! If you are looking for a fun, unique, quality gift for a hard to buy person in your life give this a look. I am impressed.

Rustic Christmas

Every year one of my favorite spots to style in our cabin is the mantle. Nothing is new, the chalkboard is handwritten by me, and the garland is a labor of love. These are probably all the reasons why it’s my favorite.

What do you have in your home that is a favorite holiday decor spot? Please tell me in the comments.

You DON’T need to buy a bunch of new decor to enjoy your spaces and make them special. Small tweaks, rearranging the way things are styled, and perhaps buying a new roll of ribbon to add something fresh can make all the difference.

I am honored to have this above image featured by the magazine American Farmhouse Style this season. What a treat to see our nothing new, mostly homespun family Christmas mantle featured!

It reminded me that keeping things simple, memory filled and thought is what matters most right now.

Thank you for spending a few minutes in our Christmas cabin this season. Looking at this time of year through the lens of intention causes us to decorate more thoughtfully, buy more sensibly, give more intentionally, and savor the memories each of these moments create.

Merry Merry Christmas to you!

With hope for you and your intentional home & life,
