Let’s Have A Colorado Snow Day
Colorado is always up for an adventure, especially in the winter. We live in a town at 7300 ft of elevation and we embrace Colorado slow as much as we can. Our first year here we got 150+ inches of snow (think November through May). Talk about making life slow! The long term weather predictions for this winter say not much snow but a lot of cold temperatures. So imagine our delight to have our first blizzard of the season this weekend followed by our first snow day of the year!
When you hear the phrases, “batten down the hatches” and “hunker down” that’s not an exaggeration in our neck of the woods. Once November 1st arrives we stock chicken and noodles, hot cocoa, and the essentials for a batch of cookies. We prep by chopping wood and kindling, gassing up the snowblower and put the snow shovels by all the doors in case we need to shovel ourselves out. That’s a story for another day.
As the Colorado weather turns brisk and chilly these are the days we long for, they get us through the 6-7 month snowy season. Today it has arrived, our first coveted snow day. Cookies, check. Chicken and noodles, check. Hot cocoa, ready. The snow gear and sleds are out. We’ve got Colorado blue sky this morning, and the pup is antsy.
Let’s have a Colorado Snow Day!
This antsy pup had us up early! She was ready to go play.
I’ve decided snow days are made for cozy clothes, yummy food, and naps.
