The holiday season brings about deliberate opportunities to cultivate relationships and time honored traditions. Intentionally creating a place that will embody warmth, rest, and peace during this special time is equally important.

Looking back on my early years in the home I would spend afternoons flipping through cookbooks, scrolling Pinterest, and magazines to glean inspiration for my holiday gatherings. I loved cultivating a vision for our celebrations.

In time though I began to feel unprepared with the arrival of Thanksgiving. Busyness, stress, and the pressures of perfection started to overwhelm me. I met Christmas with a very hum-bug attitude. I was tired, and couldn’t meet the holidays with fresh energy.  A holiday game plan needed to happen. I wanted so badly to create tangible memories for my family because of how much meaning the season can embody.

So, what does any organized mommy do? I started to put together a plan! Over the course of several holiday seasons I compiled ideas. I saved my menus and started to get savvy about my approach to the holiday season. As my own kids got older we became purposeful about holiday preparation. With no extended family local we found ways to cultivate our own sweet traditions, routines and celebrations.

Being the hostess for any gathering during November or December shouldn’t rob you of the opportunity to celebrate the season too.
