3 Simple, Affordable Ways to Create Seasonal Decor
Creating seasonal decor doesn’t need to be complicated or expensive. In today’s post I share three simple ways to incorporate seasonal decorative elements that are festive and can help you transition your decor with ease.
My family rented for years and during that time I found a few ways to incorporate seasonal decor that is affordable, simple, and doesn’t take up much storage space.
1. Fabric
Fabric is incredibly versatile and affordable. Buying a few yards of festive fabric for a season or holiday can make a huge impact in your home’s decor. It also takes minimal space to store. Fabric can be used in many creative ways. One of my favorites is as a table runner or to cover framed signs.
I don’t sew but have found that this product limits fraying and also allows for simple use. Hemming a runner, tablecloth, napkins, and curtains is a great way to allow them to last season after season. However, I’ve found that if the fabric is displayed for only a few weeks a year hemming the item is just a formality.
2. Greenery and Small Decor
It’s no secret that greenery adds depth and texture to any space. Specific greens such as eucalyptus, evergreens, and faux flowers used as a greenery base is wonderful. For each season certain types of faux greenery can be added. Here are few ideas:
- Winter- spray painted pinecones, or dried greens
- Spring- sprays of lavender, tulips, or babies breath
- Summer- bright cheerful florals like daisies, ranunculus, queen annes lace,m and sunflowers.
- Fall- dried leaves, dried magnolia, ornamental corn, pumpkins and gourds.
- The Holiday Season- red berries
Small scale vignette decor is really easy to collect. It stores easily and doesn’t take up much space. Stores like Target, Hobby Lobby, and even Dollar Tree have great small scale decor perfect for tabletop vignettes, tiered trays, and wreathes.
3. Festive Paper Products
One unexpected powerhouse for seasonal decor is paper products. Being very inexpensive, it adds thoughtful playful touches of whimsy to any holiday or season. One of my favorite things about paper products is that it’s disposable. The products are intended to be thrown away, so next year the paper products on the market will be different. Year after year the products change which offers a huge amount of versatility.
It took me a few years of home ownership to become comfortable with changing my decor from season to season, or holiday to holiday (aside from Christmas, lol!). I hope today’s post can give you some inspiration to try some of these ideas in your home!
With hope for you and your intentional home,
